DIRTY MAINTENANCE CHEAT SHEET

DIRTY MAINTENANCE CHEAT SHEET

DIRTY MAINTENANCE CHEAT SHEET

A quick cheat sheet! Something I’ve always wanted while on a work order in the heat of battle.

Instead of having to search all over the internet for helpful charts and information, I will consolidate everything here that will give technicians quick access to what they need. You can click on the picture and save to your phone for even quicker access!

This list will continue to grow over time. And if there’s something you’d like to see added, please e-mail me at Lex.Vance79@gmail.com.

G.E. Washing Machine Error Codes

The newer G.E. top loader washing machines have a circuit board on top of the motor that has a red blinking light. That light will tell you when something’s wrong. Click on this YouTube video link and you’ll see the example I recorded about error codes.

HVAC Capacitor Microfarad Chart

This will help you out if you’re not sure if a capacitor is still good or not. I only went from 3 to 45 microfarads because rarely do us maintenance techs deal with anything bigger. If it’s below or above the number listed, chunk it!

If you’re unfamiliar with how to test capacitors, here’s a video of me testing a bad one out in the field.

How To Tell What Ton An A/C Unit Is

If the data plate numbers are visible, the tonnage of a unit can be found in the model number.

If 12,000 BTU’s (British Thermal Units) is equal to 1 ton of AC  then 18,000 is equal to 1.5 tons and 24,000 is equal to 2 tons and so on.

12 = 1 ton

18 = 1.5 tons

24 = 2 tons

30 = 2.5 tons

36 = 3 tons

42 = 3.5 tons

48 = 4 tons

And so on and so on. As you can see, the BTU’s go up by 6.

HVAC Piston Chart

Sometimes you’ll roll up on a property and find that some goober put an undersized or an oversized piston in a unit and it’s making the pressures do crazy things. This chart will help you know what size to put in a unit. This actual chart came from a Goodman manual.

Here’s a video of me showing a piston & where they go if you’re unfamiliar with pistons on an HVAC system.
